Jorj Rual was a cabinetmaker and sculptor of Breton origin. He began his career working for Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann in Paris before joining the family business in Rennes. He joined the Unvaniez Ar Seiz Breur in 1932 (a movement founded in 1923, which brought together Breton artists from various disciplines – painting, sculpture, ceramics, cabinetmaking, etc.) seeking to create contemporary art inspired by tradition. This movement left its mark on Breton culture. He took over the family cabinetmaking workshop in 1935 and was involved in the design of the Brittany Pavilion at the 1937 World’s Fair.
